Passions

"Writing can be messy; full of pointless breakdowns, yelling at the computer, banging your forehead against the keyboard, and hiding under the table."

Writing History

I suppose I should put up some more info about me and my writing. So here goes.

Some of my writing accomplishments that I'm extremely proud of include a poem, a school essay, and an interested agency.
This poem is one of the only good ones I have written. I don't particularly write poetry well, but for this poem I had good inspiration and it turned out well. My library was having a poetry contest and I submitted this poem, which is titled Talented Boy. It was one of four winners and was published in the library newsletter! I still have the newsletter!
I wrote an essay on The Luxe by Anna Godbersen (which that whole series is AMAZING! Totally recommend it.) and if I may say so myself, I thought I did a very nice job on the essay. My Honors English 9 (since I'm a freshmen) teacher said it was amazing and that I was a good writer! Then she also said she would probably read it again just for pleasure, which sure pleased me!
And some of the most exciting news. . .
I submitted a query form to an agency. Based off the info I provided in it, they decided they wanted to read my book. I sent the first three chapters, and what do you know, I have a contract sitting in my email waiting to be signed and returned. And if I do that, I could very well become a published author very quickly after I finally finish my book. So I think I should go back to writing it now . . .
Have a great day, everyone!

Forest, Tiran, and Kilendree Gals

Oh, my goodness.
I just finished Forest Born a real little while ago. And it was AMAZING. I know it's officially not supposed to come out until tomorrow, but sometimes book stores stock books early, and I was fortunate enough to spot this little gem of whose arrival I had been awaiting. So naturally I was thrilled and finished it a little while ago and I am so so SO proud of all the characters in that series and how far they have come, and I didn't even write it. But, seriously, the playful banter with Isi, Enna, Dasha, Razo, Rin, ALL my favorite characters, was amazing! They are beautifully written and Shannon Hale is an amazing author.
Have a great day, everyone!

"Ember" Makes A Good Name

Hey everyone!
I'm sorry I had to take down that last post with my first chapter, but I decided maybe having it on the Internet wasn't the best idea so I took it down. But I will e-mail the other chapters to my close companions so they can still read it though it will not be up here!

In other news, I just wanted to say a huge Thank You to my friend, Debby. She read the first chapter of Ember on the blog (when it was still posted) and she e-mailed me this comment:

"Amber,Oh my gosh, I'm so impressed! already i can tell its gonna be a unique and intresting book. I read the first paragraph and it caught my attention and made me want to read on. Now I'm impatiantly anticipating the second chapter, so you better hurry up and post it! lol. It's realli creative and I'd find it hard to believe someone our age wrote it. you should start looking to publish it-I know if I was a publisher I'd put into consideration. Good luck with writing the rest!:}"

So, of course I felt like that was my first review or something. But thank you so much to her!

And in Ember news, I officially finished a rough outline for the rest of the book and I am hard at work on chapter 2!

Have a great day, everyone!

BooksBooksBooks!!

Hi everyone!! I am writing a novel called Ember. I started it months ago, but once I got to Chapter 7, I realized I left myself nothing to work with. So I completely scrapped it and am starting over. Just finished my new Chapter 1 today!!

There are several books I've read that I've just loved and they've helped me to want to write. Among these are Stephenie Meyer's Twilght Saga, and her other novel, The Host. I absoulutely love Shannon Hale's books, The Goose Girl, Enna Burning, River Secrets, Book of a 1000 Days, and The Actor and the Housewife. I also like The Dark Princess by Amanda Kostro, whom I know personally. Also Sarah Dessen, all her novels I've loved but my favorites are definitely The Truth About Forever, Lock and Key, and I really enjoyed her newest, Along For the Ride.

I have a growing list of books to read, also. I really want to read and see My Sister's Keeper and Julie and Julia. I also am thinking about reading/seeing The Time Traveler's Wife. Is that one good does anybody know? Leave a comment and let me know!
